Princess of the Crystal Empire

Oh that wig... so much frizzing... but it's the best that I managed after hand dyeing it and then de-tangling it probably 3 times. I was actually quite a fan of the shoes, I managed to find a pair that mimiced the design of the gold hoof covers that Cadence often wears, was so happy I didn't need to struggle with making shoe covers. I really love how everything came together in this costume. I really wanted to pull in some pink into the dress to represent more Cadence's usual color but I still wanted to keep it close to the original gown idea. I ended up layering a white lace over top of some shiney pink satin and it helped tone down the shine and the color so it almost looks white but you can still tell that it's kind of pink.

I also really like how the wings turned out. I ended up using pink organza and stitched together 4 layers of the stuff to get a decent translucency but so that you could tell the color easily. The wings only have a wire along the top edge and it was hand sewn in with invisible thread. The wire was used as a support and mounts into the back of my corset with 2 hair clips. The design of the wings was actually pulled out from a vector of Cadence so it's the exact shape of her wings. I ended up using a purple spray paint to try and get a bit of a gradient going... the nozzle was a little busted so it ended up sputtering lumps of paint everywhere... but it got the job mostly done lol.
